With the power to brew a delicious perk-me-up coffee, a moka pot is different from other makers. It percolates the coffee on the stovetop, yielding a high-quality strong cup of espresso.
- 30 grams
- 1:12 coffee to water
Water Amount & Temp
- 360 g
- 3-6 minutes
Prepare Coffee & Water
Grind you coffee finely. Coarser than true espresso but finer than pour over. A little larger than granulated sugar.
Fill the bottom chamber of the pot with water to the valve, about 360 grams, and then place the funnel into the pot. If water enters the funnel, pour out any excess water and replace the funnel.
Fill Funnel With Coffee
Level out the coffee and wipe the rim clean. Do not tamp the grounds.
Screw on the Lid & Place on the Stove
Be sure the lid is tight and place on the stovetop over medium heat. Be sure that the flame is not larger than the base of the pot so that the handle doesn’t burn.
When the water reaches a boil, the coffee will begin to rise into the upper chamber. Once the pot begins to whistle and gurgle, it’s done! Immediately remove the pot and let the coffee finish rising up.
Using a potholder, pour and enjoy!
